Export and import under various Export Promotional Schemes can be now made through any sea Port as specified in Hand Book of Procedures Vol. 1. Earlier vide Notification No. 84/2003-Cus. Dated 27.5.03 exports from India under various export promotional schemes were restricted only through the Sea Ports at Mumbai, Nhava Sheva, Kandla, Chennai & Kolkata. Exporters were facing great problems due to this restriction as it was steeply increasing the transaction cost and thus rendering the exports uncompetitive. Therefore, FIEO took up the matter with the Central Board of Excise & Customs (CBEC) for removal of such restrictions. We are glad to inform that the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, has now issued Notification No. 97/2003-Cus. Dated 25th June, 2003, whereby the restrictions imposed in Notification No 84/2003 -Cus. have been omitted.
